The Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage (MHGP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of architecturally significant properties in Maryland. Each tour offers exclusive access to spectacular homes and gardens, some spanning more than 250 years of history. The tours are a great opportunity to explore the rich architectural heritage of Maryland while supporting MHGP’s preservation efforts.
In 2024, the MHGP was able to distribute over $100,000 to the participating county projects, a record for the organization. Past beneficiaries in Anne Arundel County have included the Hammond-Harwood House in Annapolis and Historic London Town and Gardens in Edgewater. For the 2025 tour, the specific project in Anne Arundel County that will benefit from the funds raised has not yet been announced. However, the selection will be published soon on the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage website.
The 2025 tours will take place on the following dates:
- Saturday, May 3, 2025: Queen Anne’s County
- Saturday, May 10, 2025: Anne Arundel County
The Anne Arundel County tour will feature 11 homes and gardens of architectural and historical significance, including waterfront properties and those that participate in sustainable landscape practices. The Captain Avery Museum will be one of the featured locations, serving as the host for the county’s tour. A full description of all participating properties, along with photographs, will be available on the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage website in March 2025.
- Saturday, May 31, 2025: St. Mary’s County
- Saturday, June 7, 2025: Washington County
- Saturday, June 14, 2025: Prince George’s County
Tickets for each of the county tours may be purchased online for $40.00 each, plus a processing fee, or for $45.00 on the day of the tour. Individual sites may be visited for $20.00 each. Delicious meals are available at each county’s host site, with advance registration required.
The MHGP Benefactor tickets offer a wonderful way to support historical preservation efforts while enjoying access to all the county tours. The 2025 Benefactor tickets are available for $300 ($540 value) and provide two all-county passes, with an option for your name to be listed as a benefactor in the tour book. These tickets provide excellent value and recognition for your support. You can find more information and purchase tickets on the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage website. Enjoy exploring the beautiful homes and gardens!
